Conah Walker wins Lonsdale belt in dramatic fashion

Conah Walker TKO11 Harry Scarff ... In Manchester, Conah Walker came from way behind on the scorecards to score a dramatic eleventh technical knockout that dethroned Harry Scarff from the British welterweight throne. Likely down nine rounds to one, Walker was facing a much taller foe and was not faring well. But in the eleventh, Scarff seemed to tire, and the referee warned Scarff to stop holding. A few seconds later, Walker landed a huge right to Scarff's jaw that left the champion out on his feet for a second. A follow-up punch put Scarff down, and though he beat the count, he clearly was not fully recovered when the action resumed. Scarff did his best to survive but Walker kept  punching at furious pace and the referee stepped in. Scarff was throwing punches back and defending himself but did not protest the stoppage. Walker (15-3-1) treated the British title as if it were a world title and his post-fight interview was a joy to watch. Walker also collected the Commwealth championship belt. Scarff, now 13-4, suffered his second straight loss.
