Nikoleta Pita, a 22 year-old amateur from Greece, shocked the boxing world by defeating one of the best pro women boxers, Delfine Persoon of Belgium. Persoon uis 44-2 as a pro, and a former WBC lightweight champion. Many thought Persoon deserved the win over now-undisputed world champion Katie Taylor when the two met in a unification bout, but Kaylor won a very close decision.
