Gvozdyk does not slip vs. Doudou

Oleksandr Gvozdyk TKO5 Doudou Ngumbu... Going into this fight against Doudou Ngumbu (38-9, 14 KOs) many wondered if WBC/ world light heavyweight champion Oleksandr Gvosdyk (17-0, 14 KOs) could emotionally bounce back after putting Adonis Stevenson in the hospital with a life-threatening  brain injury (Stevenson survived but is currently in a rehab facility).  Those questions were never fully answered in Philadelphia tonight.  Gvozdyk spend the first four rounds closing the distance on the mobile Frenchman Doudou Ngumbu, finding his target sporadically. Gvozdyk appeared to be having increasing success with each subsequent round.  However, questions still remain for the long term because, as at the 58-second mark of round five, Ngumbu pulled up lame, citing an injury to his lower leg.  With Ngumbu not being able to continue, Gvozdyk gets the TKO victory and looks ahead now to fights with hopefully less extraneous drama than that which surrounded his last two. Oleksandr Gvozdyk improves to 17-0 with 14 KOs while Ngumbu drops to 38-9 with 14 KOs. Source: ESPN
