Ramirez rallies to edge Zepeda via majority decision

Jose Ramirez W12 Jose Zepeda: In Fresno, California, WBC junior welterweight champion Jose Ramirez (24-0 with 16 KOs) and Jose Zepeda (30-2, 25 KOs) gave boxing fans a real treat in tonight's ESPN main event. It was a tale of two fights. Over the first six rounds, Zepeda easily outboxed Ramirez, winning five of them on Boxingtalk's scorecard. But Ramirez turned it up down the stretch and it became a war of attrition heading into the championship rounds. Zepeda had some great moments in rounds ten and eleven and the final round was up for grabs as well. Ramirez landed several punches in his last flurry of the fight and that likely gave him the edge. Both fighters were cut by accidental headbutts, though the referee, who never really had control of the bout, ruled they were caused from punches.  Official scores were a majority decision for Ramirez, 114-114, 115-113 and 116-112. Boxingtalk scored it 115-113 for Zepeda but could accept 7-5 either way or a draw.  source: espn
