Joseph Parker defeats Junior Fa in New Zealand

Joseph Parker W12 Junior Fa ... Former WBO title holder Joseph Parker won a competitive, medium-paced heavyweight fight over previously undefeated Junior Fa at the Spark Arena in Auckland, New Zealand on Saturday. The boxers showed good hand speed but there was a fair amount of clinching as Parker won a twelve-round unanimous decision. Official scores were an unfair 119-109 and more realistic scores of 117-111 and 115-113. Parker was hurt in the third round but landed the better punches throughout to improve his record to 28-2. He remains in or very near the top ten heavyweights in the world. Fa fought through a cut near his left eye. His record drops to 17-1 but he acquitted himself as a legitimate heavyweight.
