Instead of a shot at the British title, Sam Maxwell will face Ben Fields (10-9-2) on Friday’s Queensberry Promotions event at London's Copper Box Arena. The event will be broadcast live on BT Sport, with Maxwell (14-0) still getting the chance to compete after his planned challenge of Akeem Ennis Brown was unable to take place. The junior welterweight Brown was due to defend his British and Commonwealth super-lightweight titles against Maxwell, but has been forced to pull out of the fight due to injury. Maxwell now turns his attention to Fields, who holds wins over the likes of Alex Fearon, Nathan Bennett, Andrew Fleming, Sean Daly and Kane Gardner during his career.

 

Maxwell make his return following his victory over Joe Hughes last August. Elsewhere on Friday’s event, Sam Gilley faces Danny Ball in a battle of unbeaten welterweights and Dennis McCann (8-0) is back in action, as he takes on Luis Moreno (9-1).
