GOLOTA QUITS YET AGAIN

Ray Austin TKO1 Andrew Golota... In China at the WBC convention, heavyweight Ray Austin earned a victory over Andrew Golotathe Polish fighter quit on his stool after one round. Austin knocked down Golota with his first left of the bout. Golota hit the deck a second time, but the referee called it a slip. Golota complained of an injury to his left biceps apparently from the first round, officials said. Previously, Golota quit in matches against Mike Tyson and Michael Grant, and was disqualified in two bouts against Riddick Bowe for repeatedlow blows.

Marco A. Barrera TKO4 Sammy Ventura... Thirteen months after a loss to Manny Pacquiao seemed to end his career, multi-division champion Marco Antonio Barrera returned as a lightweight and defeated Sammy Ventura (25-20) of Mexico on a fourth-round technical knockout. A former champion at 122, 126 and 130 pounds, Barrera's legendary career mark stands at 64-6. Barrera has now had at least one pro fight in each of the last twenty years.

Juan Palacios TKO7 Teruo Misawa... In a WBC strawweight interim title fight also held in China, Juan Palacios of Nicaragua won via seventh-round stoppage over Japan's Teruo Misawa. Palacios, 25-2, is now in line for a fight against the full WBC champion, Oleydong Sithsamerchai, who also has a bout scheduled this month. source for all results: associated press
