KLITSCHKO MANHANDLES RAHMAN
By Ryan Burton
Wladimir Klitschko TKO7 Hasim Rahman... In Germany, Wladimir Klitschko (52-3 46 KOs) retained his IBF and WBO heavyweight titles by stopping Hasim Rahman (45-7-2 36 KOs) at the 2:15 mark of the seventh round. Klitschko was too much for Rahman, taking control of the fight early with his jab. Rahman repeatedly let his guard down and Klitschko pelted him with jabs and eventually began incorporating a left hook. Rahman hit the canvas in the sixth round but got up and finished the round. Tony Weeks warned Rahman he wasn't going to let him keep getting hit if he wasn't fighting back. Rahman only connected on one punch in the sixth. In the seventh, Klitschko started hitting Rahman again with left hooks and overhand rights and Weeks stepped in and stopped the fight. Rahman, visibily out of shape, took the fight on about a month's notice and he had a tumultuous training camp, switching to Buddy McGirt as his trainer right before leaving for Germany. Rahman didn't win a round and didn't even pose a threat of hurting Klitschko. 2004 gold medalist Alexander Povetkin has an IBF mandatory due vs. Klitschko in nine months.source: hbo
