ANDRE BERTO: URANGO IS GETTING STOPPED
By G. Leon
GL: What's the latest and greatest Berto? What can we expect to see from you against Juan Urango? "It's been a while since we talked, I just crawled out of this cave I'm in. I've been laying low a bit since the last performance, which wasn't my best performance. But I've been in straight boot camp. I haven't talked to too many people lately, but I had to crawl out of my cave to speak to my man G. Leon."
GL: How do you feel about fighting Juan Urango, a junior welterweight champion? Can a junior welterweight present a legitimate challenge to you?
Andre Berto: "It's definitely going to be a challenging fight. He's moving up, but everybody who has seen him fight knows he's pretty big for a junior welterweight. I guess he feels like he's accomplished all he wanted to at 140, becoming a two time champion and now he's trying to do the same thing at 147 and in his first fight he's looking to swim with the sharks, but I'm going to send him right back down."
GL: Do you consider Urango a step up frrom Luis Collazo?
AB: "Skill wise, no. But right now when it comes to determination, heart and will I think he's a step up."
GL: Although you're from Florida, you're fighting him in his promoter's casino. Does that concern you?
AB: "Nah, I'm not concerned at all. It's my first time fighting in Florida and even though it's their casino everybody who shows up is showing up for me."
GL: What does it mean to defend your title in your home state?
AB: "It's going to be beautiful. I was born in Miami, so it's pretty much my hometown. I've been grinding real hard in camp and this is realisitically the hardest camp I've ever been in. I'm looking forward to putting on a tremendous performance and showing everybody the real Berto who wasn't there when I fought Collazo."
GL: Does Urango go the distance?
AB: "If he doesn't bring his power up with him it won't go the distance."
GL: And what if he does?
AB: "It still won't go twelve. As hungry as I am it won't even matter."
GL: What are you hoping a victory over Urango leads to?
AB: "Bigger and better things. All of the top guys have fights coming up, but pretty soon I'm going to be looking to unify the division."
GL: Closing thoughts?
AB: "I appreciate all the fans for their support and you will all see the real Andre Berto come May 30."
