EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: GLEN JOHNSON
By G. Leon

GL: We're just days away from your rematchagainst Chad Dawson. Can you tell us what we can expect to see from you on Saturday night?

Glen Johnson: "On Saturday night you're going to see a great fight and a Glen Johnson that's very impressive. I believe the fans will be excited about seeing me fight again after I take care of Chad Dawson. I expect a good fight from him, I expect him to use all of his skills. I just believe that right now I'm at the unstoppable stage of my career and I don't see what Dawson will be able to do in order to survive me."

GL: What do you have to do differently to be victorious in the rematch?

GJ: "I'm going to change a few things, but not a lot. We have the formula that worked before. The fans saw the victory, the writers saw the victory. All the people saw the victory and the only ones who didn't are the ones who wanted to see Chad Dawson successful. At the end of the night we're looking to change everybody minds this time. I don't want anybody to be latched on to Chad Dawson. Hopefully we get some unbiased judges for this one and they score the fight according to what's happening."

GL: Following the recent fight between Paul Malignaggi and Juan Diaz, HBO's Max Kellerman virtually excused lousy scoring as the marketplace speaking. Do you feel that's what happened to you in the first fight with Dawson and are you concerned about that happening again?

GJ: "I definitely feel that's what happened to me and I am concerned. Until something is done to improve boxing, this is what we have to look forward to. This is the legacy and this is the reason that guys in our position have to be so much better than the Chad Dawsons off the world to get recognition and to get victories. It's the just the hill I have to climb to be successful in this business."

GL: What are you hoping a victory over Dawson leads to?

GJ: "There's a couple of other big fights out there with Bernard Hopkins and Roy Jones and then there's whoever else HBO might be interested in. I'm ready and available. All they have to do is tell me where, when and how much."

GL: Who do you like in the Jones-Hopkins rematch?

GJ: "I still have to go with Roy Jones. Bernard is very good with guys that have limited foot movement and hand speed. He can take apart any robot in a boxing ring, it's the guys with the speed that give him problems and Roy Jones Jr still has plenty of that left."

GL: Closing thoughts?

GJ: "Don't miss this fight. It's going to be exciting and you're not going to want to miss it."
