19-YEAR UNBEATEN STREAK STAYS ON THE BOOKS AS MAIN EVENT FALLS THROUGH
UPDATE: The card in Newark will go on as planned, but the main event has fallen through for reasons not disclosed on the record. Press Release: First it was Gary Jones, then it was David Adotey Alottey and now it will surely be once-beaten Aaron “Homicide” Mitchell who will take on Richard Pierson this Wednesday night at Newark, New Jersey's Robert Treat Hotel. Mitchell, from Philadelphia, is 42 years old and has a pro record of 27-1-1 with 21 KOs. He has not lost in 19 years, his lone loss being a 1993 split decision to Keith Mullings, who would go on to hold the WBC 154-pound title from 1997-1999. The 19-year unbeaten streak gets a big asterisk next to it because Mitchell has had long periods of inactivity and will be making his first start in four years (he last took a twelve round unanimous decision from Delray Raines in 2008), but he knows how to fight and should make an interesting opponent for Pierson (11-2 with 8 KOs). The fight can be seen all over the world for a small fee on www.gfl.tv.
