GOLDEN BOY ANNOUNCES JULY 7 FOX SHOW
Press Release: On Saturday, July 7th, Golden Boy Promotions presents a main event featuring Jesus Soto Karass and Euri Gonzalez squaring off at The Hangar at the Orange County Fair & Event Center. The bout will be shown as part of a doubleheader on Fox Sports Net and Fox Deportes. Soto Karass and Gonzalez will meet in a ten-round junior middleweight main event while a second ten-round bout will see a junior lightweight clash between Mexican Olympian Francisco Vargas and Puerto Rico's Irving Torres. Soto Karass (25-7-3, 16 KOs) has been a thorn in the side of top welterweights for years, including Chris Smith, Mike Jones, David Estrada and Carson Jones. In 2012, the 29-year-old Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico native decided to takes his talents to 154 pounds and after a January setback against Gabriel Rosado, he decisioned then 10-1-1 prospect Said El Harrak.
Fighting out of Hollywood, Florida by way of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, 33-year-old Euri "Millon" Gonzalez (20-2-1, 14 KOs) has won his share of regional titles over the years, lost to Saul Alvarez and is looking to return to the win column after a loss in his last fight against rising star Ravshan Hudaynazarov on June 2nd.
2008 Mexican Olympian Francisco Vargas (11-0-1, 9 KOs) trains in Los Angeles.
Making his United States debut against Vargas after competing solely on the Caribbean circuit will be Salinas, Puerto Rico's Irving Torres (9-2, 7 KO's). He is the winner of three of his last four fights.
