By G. Leon
Nonito Donaire UD12 Jeffrey Mathebula: Pound for pounder Nonito Donaire added the IBF junior featherweight title to his collection by handling Jeffrey Mathebula over twelve hard fought rounds. Donaire landed a vicious counter left hook that sent Mathebula crashing to the canvas in the closing seconds of round four. Mathebula beat the count and began to make this a serious fight as he continous out-punched and landed Donaire, who was pretty much in search and destroy mode the whole fight. Fortunatley for Donaire the judges already had their scorecards filled out before the first bell rang. Official scores were a ridiculous 119-108, 118-109, 117-110. Boxingtalk scored it 115-112 for Donaire, who now holds two of the four major belts at 122 lbs.
Kelly Pavlik UD10 Will Rosinsky: With the perfect opponent in front of him Kelly Pavlik failed last night. Other than the flash knockdown he scored early into the bout, the former undisputed middleweight champion did little to impress the viewing audience or convince anyone that he will ever again become a world champion. If anything Rosinsky elevated his status in defeat by do far better than anyone anticipated. Official scores were 97-92 and a ridiculous 98-91 twice.
