The Boxingtalk Scoreboard
Daniel Geale W12 Felix Sturm... In a battle between two of the world's top five middleweights, Daniel Geale defeated Felix Sturm by split decision in Germany. All three judges turned in 116-112 cards, but two of the three favored the Australian Geale. Sturm had not lost since 2006, but had won several debatable decisions since then. Geale now adds Sturm's WBA super championship to his own IBF championship and becomes the first Australian boxer to hold two major titles at once (Kostya Tszyu was based in Australia but born in Russia). Geale's only career loss is to Anthony Mundine. source: abc news
Tepparith Singwancha W12 Nobuo Nashiro... One of Asia's top boxers, Tepparith Singwancha of Thailand, retained the WBA 115-pound title via majority decision over ex-titlist Nobuo Nashiro of Japan. Official scores were 115-113, 115-114 in favor of Tepparith, a 23 year-old Thai, while one judge had it 114-114. For Tepparith, it was a road defense of his title, as the bout took place in Nashiro's home of Osaka, Japan. Tepparith became the interim champion in May 2011 and eventually defeated Tomonobu Shimizu for the full title. Nashiro, who held the same title from 2008-2010, announced his retirement after the loss. source: bangkok post
