RESULTS FROM MEXICO
Marco A. Rubio TKO11 Michel Rosales ... Last Saturday in Morelia, Mexico, Marco Antonio Rubio stopped courageous Michel Rosales in the eleventh round. Rubio (56-6-1 with 49 KOs) scored a knockdown early in the first round when he connected with a right hook to the jaw of Rosales, and it appeared that “El Veneno” would have an easy nights work. But Rosales beat the count, and furiously fought back immediately after. The action was fierce from then on, and both boxers had periods where they were in control, only to see the other connect with his own punches. In round seven, it again looked as if Rubio would end matters when he forced Rosales to the ropes by connecting with several left and right hands in succession. But, again, Rosales (32-6 with 26 KOs), managed to weather the storm. However, in round eleven Rubio finally managed to overcome Rosales when Rubio landed a left hook followed by a right to the face of Rosales, who crashed to the canvas. Rosales staggered to his feet but was rightly declared unable to continue as the referee waved off the war. At the time of the stoppage Rosales was ahead on one scorecard, with Rubio leading on the other two.
Antonio Lozada TKO3 David Cavita... One day earlier, on December 21st, light welterweight Antonio Lozada Jr. used body punching to defeat David Cavita in three rounds in Rosarito, Mexico. The 22-year-old Lozada floored the challenger twice in round two with well-placed body-shots. Cavita beat the count both times, but it was only a matter of time before Lozada caught up with him again. The end came only forty-two seconds into the third, as Lozada cut off the ring and finished the job with one more body shot. Lozada is now 30-1 and may face full Zolani Marali of South Africa in the first half of 2013. Cavita fell to 7-2-2. source for all results: wbf
