Zou Shiming set to turn pro in April
Press Release: Top Rank has signed Zou Shiming of China, a two-time Olympic gold medalist and three-time world amateur champion. Shiming will arrive in the United States on Monday, February 4, to begin training with Freddie Roach and Miguel Diaz for his professional boxing debut. Shiming will begin his training in a custom gym located at Las Vegas' The Venetian and The Palazzo through February 15th, and then move to the Top Rank Gym, also located in Las Vegas, through March 23rd. He will return to China for his last two weeks of training camp. Shiming, 31, is scheduled to make his professional boxing debut on April 6th at The Venetian Macao Resort Hotel in Macau.
One of the most popular Olympic athletes in the People's Republic of China, Shiming is the world's greatest amateur light flyweight, capturing gold medals in the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympic Games. In the 2005, 2007, and 2011 World Amateur Championships, Shiming also brought home gold medals, making him his nationís first boxing gold medalist in the World Amateur Championships and Olympics. . He became his nationís first Olympic medalist in boxing when he earned bronze in 2004.
