Mayweather wins easy decision over Guerrero

In Las Vegas, Floyd Mayweather retained the world 147-pound championship with a unanimous decision victory over Robert Guerrero. Mayweather is now 44-0 as a pro after carrying all three official scorecards by 117-111... In Germany, Wladimir Klitschko retained his shares of the world heavyweight championship by stopping little-known Francesco Pianeta in the sixth round. Pianeta, a cancer survivor, was knocked down in the fourth and knocked out two rounds later. It was the sixtieth win of Klitschko's pro career and the first loss of Pianeta's.... On the Mayweather undercard, Abner Mares stopped Daniel Ponce De Leon in the ninth round to take De Leon's WBC featherweight championship. De Leon suffered knockdowns in the second and ninth rounds The undefeated Mares has now won world titles at 118, 122 and 126 pounds... Leo Santa Cruz was successful in his 122-pound debut, stopping former 115-poundchampion Alexander Munoz in the fifth round. Santa Cruz, who vacated the IBF 118-pound title punished Munoz and dropped him twice, leading to the referee's stoppage in the fifth...In a middleweight bout that opened the Mayweather pay-per-view broadcast, J'Leon Love won an unpopular decision over Gabriel Rosado. Love was knocked down in the sixth and hurt badly in the ninth, but received a split decision verdict. ESPN scored the fight 95-94 in favor of Rosado.  --Scott Shaffer
