BRAEHMER ANNOUNCES EUROPEAN TITLE DEFENSE
Press Release: European light heavyweight champion Juergen Braehmer (40-2, 31 KOs) will have a hometwon defense in Schwerin, Germany on August 24th. His opponent will be Stefano Abatangelo (17-2-1, 6 KOs) from Italy. The 31-year-old challenger is full of confidence. On May 31st, Abatangelo, from Montanaro, close to the major Northern Italian city of Turin, dethroned Italian champion Emanuele Barletta via seventh-round technical knockout. “Abatangelo is on a good winning streak. He did not lose once in his last twelve outings. He will do everything he can to take the EBU title back home to Italy,” said Team Sauerland Director of Sports Hagen Doering. Besides the European title, the 34 year-old Braehmer is also the WBO mandatory challenger to Nathan Cleverly. Braehmer's trainer is also from Schwerin.
