Boxingtalk's KO fix

JULY 24: MOLINA STOPS BEY IN LAST ROUND

John Molina TKO10 Mickey Bey... Last Friday, previously undefeated Mickey Bey was coming off a three-month suspension after registering one of the highest levels of synthetic testorerone recorded in a boxer. His opponent, John Molina (26-3, 21 KOs), had lost two out of three coming in, although against tough opposition. Behind on the cards by scores of 90-81, 89-82 and 88-83 going into the tenth and final round, Molina stormed back from the brink of defeat to stop Bey (18-1-1, 9 KOs), of Cleveland, Ohio, with about a minute left in their lightweight fight Friday. Bey never went down, so there are definitely more violent knockdowns to watch, but the dramatic circumstances of Molina's come-from-behind win is well worth a look. source: showtime press release

JULY 23: HOLM'S FEET MORE LETHAL THAN HER FISTS

Holly Holm KO2 Allana Jones... In her first MMA fight since leaving boxing (but her fourth MMA fight overall), Holly Holm knocked Allana Jones out cold with a head kick. Holm overcame blurry vision in the opening round, the result of getting unintentionally poked in the eye. She started out moving and striking, then effectively mixed in front and head kicks. Midway through the second round, Holm unloaded a picture-perfect left kick to Jones' head, immediately ending the fight as the referee rushed in before Holm did additional damage to her opponent. As a boxer, Holm, was 33-2-3 with just 9 knockouts. source: fresquez press release

JULY 22: REFEREE PHIL EDWARDS CAN'T COUNT

Dereck Chisora KO6 Malik Scott... American heavyweight Malik Scott failed the first real test of his 13-year career, although he seems to have gotten shortchanged by a referee who forgot how to count to ten. Scott was outboxing British heavyweight Dereck Chisora in Chisora's home country, the United Kingdom, when Chisora caught Scott with a hook against the ropes in the sixth round. Scott took a knee and did not seem hurt, but took nearly the full count. The problem arose when referee Phil Edwards, also British, reached the nine count. Scott stood up at nine but the referee waved off the fight without coutning to ten. Check it out for yourself: the video leaves no room for doubt. We'll never know who would have won had the fight progressed fairly, but Scott leaves England with a bitter taste in his mouth knowing he was done dirty by the incompetent or corrupt Phil Edwards. Chisora is now 17-4 while Scott drops to 35-1-1. source: yahoo! sports
