Thomas LaManna wins in step-up fight
Jaime Herrera TKO7 Mike Jones ... There was an upset iun Atlantic City, New Jersey on Saturday as Illinois welterweight Jaime Herrera (12-2, 7 KOs) stopped comebacking Mike Jones (26-2, 19 KOs) in the seventh round. Jones hadn't fought in two years, but was close to winning an IBF world title against Randall Bailey, sh he was thought to be the favorite coming in. Jones nearly won early, sending Herrera to the mat in the second and third rounds. But Herrera turned the tide, and hos punches gave Jones a cut above his right eye and a swollen left eye. The referee stopped the bout after round seven.

Young New Jersey middleweight Thomas LaManna improved to 15-0 with 7 KOs by winning a hard-fought unanimous decision over Philadelphia's Jamaal Davis (14-12-1, 6 KOs). After eight rounds, the official scores were 79-73 and 78-74 (twice). At 22 years old, LaManna is 11 years younger then Davis, who is a respected opponent. LaManna's best round was the eighth.
