RESULTS FROM AROUND THE WORLD: CONCEPCION WINS IN PANAMA

Nkululeko Mhlongo TKO8 Sikhulule Sidzumu... South Africa's domestic 154-pound champion Nkululeko Mhlongo defeated Sikhulule Sidzumu in Eastern Cape, South Africa. The volume of power-punches from the classy Mhlongo eventually culminated in several unasnwered telling blows, which prompted referee Eddie Marshal to correctly call a halt to proceedings in round eight. Known to his fans as “The Bulldog”, Mhlongo moves to 13-2. Sidzumu, a former two-division South African champion, falls to 18-7-5. source: wbf

Bongani Mlotshwa TKO10 Johannes Pieterson ... On the same card, up-and-coming Bongani Mlotshwa (7-1) defeated late substitute Johannes Pieterson (10-16-3) in a bout that was much tougher than expected. Pieterson gave it his everything, took the fight to Mlotshwa from the first bell, and actually hurt his opponent several times in a furiously paced brawl. The action was back and forth almost constantly. But in round ten it was all over, when Mlotshwa landed a stellar left hook.  Referee Lulama Mtya had no choice but to wave it off, as a massively hurt Pieterson was in no condition to continue. source: wbf

Luis Concepcion TKO7 Duván Hernandez... Panama's Luis "El Nica" Concepcion stopped Colombia's Duván Hernandez in a 115-pound contest held in Panama City. Concepcion knocked Hernandez down late in the second round and the fall appeared to cause a cut over the right eyebrow of Hernandez. The bout continued until the seventh round, when the referee stopped the fight in favor of Concepcion. The record of Hernandez falls to 12-2-2, while Concepcion improves to 32-3. Concepcion lost a WBA 112-pound title shot to Hernan Marquez in 2011, but has fought excellent competition since then and is worthy of a world title shot at 115 pounds. source: la estrella online panama
