GL: How has everything been going in preparation? What can we expect to see from you on October 14? Everything has been going great, I'm working hard, the weight is good everything is right where it needs to be right now. GL: Are you doing anything differently in getting ready for your first title fight? It's pretty much the same. I came here to New Jersey so that I didn't have to break camp, but other than that it's pretty much the same thing. Of course I'm working a little bit harder because it's for a world title, but that's about it.
GL: What are your thoughts of Jermell Charlo as a fighter?
Erickson Lubin: "He's a decent fighter. He seems pretty basic to me. He beat the guys that he's supposed to beat, but now he's in for his toughest test with me. I can't wait and I'm ready to capture that title. I'm ready to take it from him."
GL: When you say he's basic what does that mean?
EL: "It means he's just a basic one-two puncher. He doesn't really do a lot in the ring, it's real basic."
GL: The fight is over and you're hearing the words and the new, what does that mean to you?
EL: "It means everything. It means that all of the hard work I've put in over the years is finally paying off and it would be a dream come true."
GL: How do you feel about fighting on a junior middleweight triple header that is likely going to lead to unification?
EL: "I think that's very exciting because they have the six top 154 pounders on the card and it's a great chance for the fighters to show who's the best junior middleweight out there."
GL: What weaknesess do you see in Charlo that you feel you'll be able to exploit on October 14?
EL: "I'm the type of dude to adjust in the ring, but there's a lot of mistakes that he makes that I can definitely capitalize on. When I'm in the ring I'll definitely be able to exploit them."
GL: What do you consider your biggest advantage coming into the fight?
EL: "Me being southpaw and throwing a lot of punches. I've got good movement, I can box and I can punch. I'm better at adjusting in the ring and I think that's going to be my biggest advantage."
GL: Other than victory do you have a prediction?
EL: "I'm ready to go twelve rounds if I have to, but I don't get paid for overtime so I'm definitey going to try to get him out of there."
GL: Closing thoughts?
EL: "I want all the fans to follow me on social media @ericksonhammer and @ericksonhammerl on twitter. Tune in October 14 or come out to the Barclay's Center because it's going to be Hammer time and I will capturing the WBC world title."
