Over the weekend Hasim Rahman Jr improved to 4-0 (3) with a majority decision victory over a last minute replacement [Ronny Hale] with an upside down record. It turns out that Lil Rock is following in his father's footsteps more than he knows. Like his son, the former heavyweight champion heavyweight champion began his career with three early knockouts before having a majority decision in his fourth pro bout. "I didn't realize that until after the bout, but that's one hell of a coincidence. I want to follow in my father's footsteps and become the heavyweight champion of the world, but this is one of those situations where I didn't want to be just like dad if you know what I mean," said Rahman Jr with a laugh.

Rahman Jr had recently recovered from a pneumonia prior to the February 10th bout and even though he couldn't work out the week before the fight, he decided the fight must go on. Then his opponent fell out and in stepped Ronny Hale on a few days notice.

Rahman Jr viewed Hale as a walk in the park, "I thought he was going to come take his licking and get his check, but this dude came to win and it really taught me something, I learned that I always have to be at my best when I get in there and it doesn't matter who I'm getting in there with. Fighting me is like the Super Bowl for these guys and they're all going to be bringing their best for me."

Boxingtalk reached out to Hasim Rahman and the former heavyweight champion took full accountability for the mistake he made by allowing his son to fight following an illness and a week off from training. "This one is on me, put it all on me," said Rahman. "We're not making that mistake again, count on that."

Rahman Jr is expected to return to the ring next month and then again in June, although no date in March has been solidified Boxingtalk will keep you posted on all of the latest.
