Press Release: On March 15th at the Casino Cabaret in Montreal, Quebec's Francis Lafrenière (16-5-2, 9 KOs) will battle Alberta's Albert "The Punisher" Onolunose (22-1-1, 7 KOs) at middleweight. Lafrenière will be looking to continue his 13-fight winning streak.
Born in Benin City, Nigeria, Onolunose comes from a family of boxers: his two brothers, Eromosele Albert and Jegbefumere Albert, took part in the Olympic Games under the Nigerian flag.
Arriving in Canada in 2001, Albert began his pro career in 2004. His best accomplishment was winning the Canadian middleweight title in 2013 against ex-Olympian Michael Walchuk. His only career loss came against Grady Brewer in 2009.
Also on the card, super middleweight Shakeel Phinn (16-2, 11 KOs) of Brossard will face Poland's Remigiusz Woz (11-2, 6 KOs), who has fought as high as cruiserweight and will need to drop a lot of weight.
The Montreal-based French Olympian Christian "Solid" Mbilli (7-0, 7 KOs) will face his toughest career test, Mexican veteran Jesus "Pantera" Gurrola (24-12-3, 12 KOs). In his last fight, Gurrola caused a scare to Toronto's Phil Lo Greco on June 30th in Niagara Falls, with Lo Greco winning a difficult majority decision.
The protégé of Lucian Bute, Dario Bredicean (15-0, 4 KOs), will return to action against Mexican super middleweight Guillermo Romero (12-4-0, 9 KOs). The latter has won his last three fights, with his last loss coming in 2010 against current WBO super middleweight champion Gilberto Ramirez. Romero was inactive for five years before returning with a win in 2017.
Also, Louisbert Altidor (6-2, 2 KOs) is matched against the Mexico's Genaro "Tico" Ortiz (8-2-1, 4 KOs) at super middleweight and light heavyweight Terry Osias (2-0) will be opposed to the Mexican Jorge David Vargas (3-1).
