WBCONTRADICTION: GARCIA-PORTER WINNER MUST MAKE BACK-TO-BACK MANDATORIES, DESPITE STEVENSON NOT MAKING ONE IN 5 YEARS!
By G. Leon
The WBC has announced that the winner of the Danny Garcia vs. Shawn Porter (pictured) vacant welterweight title bout will have to make back-to-back mandatory defenses. Of course, the WBC is following its rules here as winners of vacant title fights are supposed to make consecutive mandatory defenses. But WBC light heavyweight champion hasn't made a single mandatory defense since November 2013. The WBC has notoriously enforced its rules in an arbitrary manner since its inception so its contradictory actions should surprise no one.
