How has everything gone in preparation? What can we expect to see from you tomorrow night? Preparation was great, I had a good camp with my training camp with my coaches, so I'm ready to go, I'm ready to fight and I'm ready to put on a great performance.
GL: You've come a long way from taking fights on short notice last summer to being a part of a major Showtime telecast this summer. Can you talk about that?
Yordenis Ugas: "That's because of my dedication at my craft. I'm always in the gym and my team that I have behind me is always working hard with me. When I came back I knew I was behind the eight ball and I just had to be ready to take whatever came my way and I ended up benefiting from that. I feel like I'm the hottest fighter at 147 pounds and I look forward to making another statement on Saturday?
GL: What do you know about Cesar Barrionuevo?
YU: "He's a good strong fighter and obviously he's a big puncher. He's 31-1 in his last 32 fights so he's on a great streak of winning. All Argentine fighters are tough and come to bring it so I'm expecting a good fight."
GL: Should a win on Saturday night lead to a title fight or a major fight against one of the big name welterweights?
YU: "Absolutely, that was my main focus when I came back. I want to fight the best in this division, this is a world title eliminator and after I win this fight, I really think it's time for me to get one of the bigger names in the division. I know it's tough because a lot of them don't want to fight me, but after this big win it's going to be time for it."
GL: Who do you like in the Main Event?
YU: "It's going to be a great fight and a close fight. I'm leaning towards Danny Garcia, but it's going to be such a great fight and it's hard to tell. I see Shawn Porter is super motivated and personally I'm rooting for Porter because I think he would fight me before Garcia would, but if I had to pick I'm leaning slightly towards Garcia."
GL: Do you feel like winning this fight is enough or must you be impressive?
YU: "Winning is not enough I need to be very impressive in my victory. I need to show the world why I'm a top welterweight contender and why I deserve a title shot or a big fight. That's my main focus going into the ring, not just to win, but look impressive doing it."
GL: Closing thoughts?
YU: "I want to thank you for always looking out. I'm just ready to fight, this is my third fight this year, I've been active and I'm just planning to put on a great performance, because I want a top guy. Whether it's Spence, Thurman, Garcia or Porter or whoever else I don't care, I just want to fight the best."
