Press Release: Rising Star Promotions has signed Miguel Cartagena. Cartagena of Philadelphia to a promotional contract. A flyweight, Cartagena has a record of 15-5-1 with 6 KO. He turned pro in 2011 and won his first 12 bouts with quality wins over Miguel Robles (12-3-2) and a first-round knockout over Jobert Alvarez (15-1-1). Cartagena also has one win at 122 pounds, a decision over Javier Franco. His record shows losses to current IBF bantamweight champion Emmanuel Rodriguez and former two-division champion Brian Viloria.
"We are very happy to have signed Miguel Cartagena," said Rising Star Promotions President, Debbie LaManna.
"He is a terrific boxer who, at age 26, still has his best fights ahead of him. We look forward to having him fight on our shows, and eventually a world championship."
"I am excited for the opportunity to sign with Thomas LaManna and his promotional company. I feel confident because it is someone I can trust," said Cartagena
"My biggest downfall has been inactivity. I would win a fight, and look great, and then be off for like eight months. So signing with Rising Star will keep me active. If everything goes as planned, I see myself back in the big fights within the next year. I can see myself fighting any and all of the significant fighters in the flyweight or light flyweight divisions. Look for me back on November 16th,"
