SANCHEZ STOPS JAKE IN TWO
By G. Leon

Frank Sanchez KO2 Willie Jake Jr: Undefeated heavyweight Frank Sanchez improved to 11-0 with 9 KOs. The Cuban scored a one-punch knockout over Willie Jake Jr. (8-2-1 with 2 KOs) in tonight's Shobox opener. Sanchez controlled the first round before a thirteen-minute delay due to the second rope failure on the card occurred. After the rope was repaired, in round two it was all Sanchez. He ended the bout with one right hand that sent Jake falling face first into the canvas with his earmuffs on to make sure he didn't hear any boos. In this scribe's opinion Jake made a conscious decision to stay down. Editor's note: replays showed Sanchez may have landed a short left to the temple that the Showtime cameras did not pick up so clearly. Official time of stoppage was 2:59.
