VERNON PARIS KNIFED IN DETROIT

Boxingtalk extends get well wishes to unbeaten junior welterweight Vernon Paris. The 20-year-old prospect is recovering from "a major stab wound to the back" after an altercation last week in his hometown of Detroit, the Detroit Free Press reports. According to one of Paris' boxing handlers, Carlos Llinas, Paris was attacked by a man and woman after asking the female to stop making noise near his residence. Paris managed to knock out the male assailant before being knifed by the woman, Llinas said. As of Sunday, Paris was still in the hospital while the suspects remained at large.
