According to sources in Germany, Universum has announced its intent to reschedule the WBA heavyweight title fight for July 5, 2008. Ruslan Chagaev is required to defend his title against Nikolai Valuev, but Chagaev claims laryngitis is preventing him from making the original May 31st date. No site has been announced, but if Chagaev shows up on July 5 (which cannot be considered a certainty), Germany will be the center of the heavyweight universe for a three-week period. Wladimir Klitschko is preparing to defend his WBO-IBF championships on July 12th and IBF mandatory Alexander Povetkin is searching for an opponent for July 19th.
