A look at Saturday's off-TV undercard in Las Vegas

Saturday's Las Vegas undercard supporting the world super middleweight championship battle between Saul "Canelo" Alvarez and Jamie Munguia will include five off-TV bouts. Mexico City's super bantamweight contender David “El Rey” Picasso (27-0-1, 15 KOs) takes on Las Vegas-resident “Sugar” Damien Vazquez (17-3-1, 10 KOs) in an eight-round bout. Turning pro at 16 years old and building up his record in Mexico, Romero made his US debut in his last bout, earning a ten-round unanimous decision against Eric Ruiz on January 27th, in Phoenix. Vazquez, a southpaw, is a former world title challenger, having been stopped by WBA super bantamweight champion Brandon Figueroa in the tenth-round of their 2020 encounter. Picasso is on the verge of a WBC title opportunity. The WBC title is currently held by undisputed world champion Naoya Inoue, who defends his crown on May 6th in Japan against Luis Nery.

Junior welterweights Gabriel Gollaz Valenzuela and Jose Angulo (16-8 with 9 KOs) meet in an eight-round contest.  A professional boxer for nine years, Valenzuela (28-3-1, 17 KOs), of Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, has won three in a row since his last defeat to Montana Love in May 2022. Ecuador’s Angulo is coming off of a competitive, close points defeat to Cletus Seldin on March 15th.

IBF #1 super middleweight contender, Cuban William “El Indomable” Scull (21-0, 9 KOs), based out of Berlin, squares off against “Silky” Sean Hemphill (16-1, 10 KOs) of New Orleans in an eight-rounder. Scull earned his ranking with a unanimous decision win against Evgeny Shvedenko in an IBF eliminator in July 2022. After getting knocked out by David Stevens last January, Hemphill rebounded with two knockout wins later in the year. Having fought exclusively in Germany and Argentina thus far, Scull will make his US debut on Saturday night.

Mexican lightweight Adrian Torres (7-0, 6 KOs), a 20-year-old out of Tijuana, will collide with Armenia's Arsen Poghosyan (3-1-1, 2 KOs), who makes his US debut, in a six-round fight.

In a battle of unbeaten Californian lightweights, both 22 years old, Jabin Chollet, of San Diego, and Julian Bridges, of Antioch, face off in a six-rounder. Chollet (9-0, 7 KOs), a Junior Olympics silver medalist, last fought on November 25 in Las Vegas, flooring previously undefeated Jorge Perez in the fifth en route to a split decision win. Bridges (4-0, 2 KOs) was in the ring on January 20, earning a four-round unanimous decision.
