Ajagba Forever-Well, For The Foreseeable Future At Least

Heavyweight slugger to return on June 29th Showtime card

Greg Leon: Congrats on your victory, a second-round stoppage of Michael Wallisch (19-2) this weekend. Can you give us some thoughts on your performance? Efe Ajagba: "I was prepared for the fight, I trained a lot for the fight. The guy is a good fighter and a good power and he's got power. I know that he was going to have a hard time with my power and I was able to land some good punches." GL: Who is going to be able to take your power? Efe Ajagba: (laughs) "I don't know, it's up to them. It's up to the guys I fight, it depends on them and how strong they are and how much they want to take. Most boxers can take punches, but when I start throwing combinations most boxers are not going to be able to take it. Michael Wallisch took a few of my punches and I decided to give him a few more to see if he can take them."

GL: You have ten fights and nine of them have been over in the first round or the second round. What kind of sparring are you able to get? Are you taking it easy on your sparring partners? What kind of sparring are you able to get if you're knocking everybody out?

EA: "Before I went to Las Vegas there were guys who said they wanted to come to sparring. I caught a guy with a left hook in sparring and he didn't show up anymore, he gave up. I'm able to spar with my brother in Nigeria, but when I'm over here sparring sometimes I have to take it easy, that's it."

GL: When you knocked him down you landed a second punch while he was on his knee. Were you worried about getting disqualified?

EA: "To be hones the guy Michael Wallisch did that on purpose. He went to his knee on purpose, normally I was throwing my punches and the punch that hit him when he was down I was already throwing it so I couldn't take it back."

GL: When might your next fight take place?

EA: "In June, on the Jermall Charlo card in Houston."

GL: What was making your Showtime debut like? Any extra butterflies?

EA: "It was great, I loved it and can't wait to be back."

GL: Closing thoughts for the fans.

EA: "I want to thank all of the boxing fans and this is only the beginning."
