Alvarez brings in Ennis for sparring

With less than three weeks remaining before his September 13th megafight, world super middleweight champion Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez (pictured) has brought in former welterweight champion Jaron “Boots” Ennis as a sparring partner in the final stage of his training camp. The super fight between Canelo and undefeated, multi-division champion Terence Crawford is scheduled for September 13th at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, where the undisputed super middleweight championship will be on the line as Crawford moves up two weight divisions. Ennis’ arrival addresses the need to replicate Crawford’s style. Known as a switch-hitter, able to alternate between orthodox and southpaw stances, Ennis brings a technical and versatile profile similar to that of Crawford, widely regarded as one of the most complete fighters in boxing today.

Experts such as trainer Stephen Edwards have praised Team Álvarez’s decision, emphasizing that Ennis “is the closest thing to Crawford you can find in today’s boxing.” With this addition, Canelo Álvarez aims to fine-tune the final details of his preparation for one of the most awaited fights of the year, where strategy and adaptation to Crawford’s style will be crucial.
