Angel Barrientes TKO7 Alexander Castellano... Super bantamweight Angel “AK-47” Barrientes (13-1, 8 KOs) stopped Alexander Castellano (11-2-2, 2 KOs) via seventh-round TKO over the weekend at the Great Canadian Casino Resort in Toronto. The scheduled eight-round bout was part of Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Prospects 11 series, which was broadcast live on DAZN. Barrientes took control from the opening bell, showcasing his superior skill and power. In the third round, he sent Castellano crashing to the canvas with a well-placed overhand right. As the fight progressed, Barrientes continued to punish his opponent, ultimately forcing Castellano’s corner to stop the bout after round seven due to a damaged eye. “It felt amazing to get the TKO win, especially in my first fight in Canada,” said Barrientes on securing the stoppage in Canada. “The energy from the crowd was great, and I wanted to put on a show. I knew I had hurt him in the third round, so I stayed patient and kept breaking him down and finally his corner had to stop it.”
With this victory, Barrientes takes another major step forward in his promising career. “This was a big win for me,” continued Barrientes. “Castellano was a tough opponent, but I proved I’m on another level. This puts me in a great position to climb the rankings and take on the biggest fights in the division.”
Boxlab Promotions President Amaury Piedra was thrilled with Barrientes’ dominant performance and is already looking ahead to positioning him for a major opportunity. “Angel showed why he’s one of the most exciting young fighters in the super bantamweight division. He’s got the skill, the power, and the determination to make a real run at a world title,” stated Piedra. “We’re going to work on getting him ranked and matching him against top ten competition to push him toward that championship opportunity.”
The Las Vegas native also took a moment to thank his team for their continued support and dedication to his success. “I couldn’t do this without my team. My coaches, my family, and everyone at Boxlab Promotions…this win is for all of us,” concluded Barrientes on being thankful to his team. “They’ve put me in the perfect spot to keep building toward a world title shot.”
