Australia's Nicolson wins vacant featherweight title

Skye Nicolson W10 Sarah Mahfoud ... Australia's Skye Nicolson won the vacant WBC featherweight title, defeating Sarah Mahfoud of Denmark by unanimous decision on Saturday at the Fontainebleau in Las Vegas. The title was vacated by the true world featherweight champion, Amanda Serrano. Nicolson fought a disciplined, smart and conservative fight. Mahfoud was dominated from start to finish thanks to Nicolson’s powerful and accurate jab, which prevented the Dane from retaliating. The official scorecards were a reflection of the one-sided combat, 100-90 (twice) and 99-91, all for Nicolson. With this victory, Nicolson improves her record to 10-0 with 1 knockout, while Mahfoud is now 14-2 with 3 knockouts.
