The WBC has approved a final elimination bout in the light flyweight division between Erick Badillo (17-0, 8 KOs) of Mexico and Gerardo Zapata (15-2-1, 5 KOs) of Nicaragua. The twelve-round battle will be held on Friday, July 11th and presented worldwide by ProBox TV. The winner of the bout will be officially designated as next in line to face the winner of WBC champion Panya “Petchmanee CP Freshmart” Pradabsri (44-2, 27 KOs) vs. Christian Balunan (12-0, 7 KOs). Pradabsri-Balunan will take place in Japan. A venue has not been named for Badillo-Zapata. “Every fighter dreams of winning the title and wearing the WBC’s green belt around their waist,” said Badillo. “My time has finally come, and I am very happy and thankful to be here. I plan to put on a show for the fans on ProBox TV.”
