Delaware Online reported the sad news that junior welterweight Samuel Teah was murdered in Wilmington, DE on the day after Thanksgiving. Teah, age 36, had a pro record of 19-5-1, inlcluding a 2015 win over O'Shaquie Foster, who is currently a champion in the 130-pound division. After taking 2022 off, Teah split two fights this year, defeating Enrico Gogokhia then getting upset by Andrew Rogers.
Teah and his family settled in Philadelphia after fleeing from Liberia in 1992, according to Ring magazine.
His manager, Sarah Fina, posted the following tribute: "Say it ain't so.... my family, my friend. Sam say it ain't so!!!! You were one of the solid few. You gave me a hard time but I knew the love was real. My pain in my ass, but like that pain you feel after a long workout on the next day. The good pain. The pain of growth. What we gonna do now without you? Your smile was infectious. Who gonna call me sarah feeny? I'm broken." Boxingtalk joins Sarah Fina in sending its deepest sympathies to the friends and family of Samuel Teah.
