Greg Leon: Congrats on your recent victory over Christian Aguirre (8-5). Can you give us some thoughts on your performance? Money Powell IV: "I thought we did pretty good, I listened to my coach and followed the game plan. It was crazy because we were the swing bout and they actually had told me that I would be fighting after the main event and I was just hanging out in the back, but then after Chris Colbert knocked his guy out early they told me I was up. We had like three minutes to put stuff on and get in the ring. I was almost cold getting in there, but that's how it is sometimes when you're a swing bout. It sucks, but I adjusted real fast and followed the game plan." GL: What did you think about the dude hitting you with a cheap shot after the bell?

MP4: "It's happened to me a lot of times in the amateurs and it's happened to me in the pro's too where the ref will say break and a guy will throw a punch. I wasn't going to let that mess up what I had going. I had my momentum going on and I wasn't going to let something like that derail what I had coming for him."

 

GL: Can you tell us how you set him up for that left hook?

 

MP4: "I had tried that shot a couple of rounds before and I saw it was getting in there. I was baiting him in to come inside and he came with the right and countered with my left. A lot of times I really hurt guys with my right hand, but we've been putting a lot of focus on the left hook and it came out perfect."

 

GL: When are you going next?

 

MP4: "I'm not 100% sure right now, but I'm guessing it's going to be some time over the summer. When they call and say Money you've got another fight, I'll be ready. I'm already in the gym right now and I'm ready to go whenever they tell me. I love what I'm doing, and I can't wait to be back in the ring. I fought twice in less than two months so I'm thinking it's going to be a couple of months before I fight again. I"m going to be moving up to eight rounders now and I know the opponents are going to get harder, but they're going to give me a date a couple of months out. If it's something sooner, I'll be ready if they make the call."

 

GL: You look like you're growing and getting bigger. Are you going to be able to make 160?

 

MP4: "I can still make 160, I'm just starting to fill out some more, but I'll be able to make it. When I start climbing the rankings if we feel that it's getting too difficult to make the weight, then we'll move up, but for now I feel like I can make the weight comfortably, especially if I have a two months notice."

 

GL: Closing thoughts.
