Catterall in catbird's seat for 2021 world title challenge

Jack Catterall moved one step closer to a junior welterweight world title shot with a dominant ten-round points wins over France's Abderrazak Houya on Saturday. Catterall (26-0, 13 KOs) defeated Houya (14-3, 2 KOs) at Church Hourse in Westminster, England. Caterall dropped his opponent in both the sixth and the ninth rounds. The fight went the distance, with the referee scoring it 99-90 in Catterall’s favor. Catterall is now on the verge of a crack at world honors, with the current mandatory challenger for the WBO title set to fight for possibly four belts in 2021. Catterall said: “I enjoyed that. It’s been a year out of the ring for me, so that’s ten good rounds in the bank. Now we’ll move to next year and get some big fights. I’m set to face the winner of [IBF/WBA champion] Josh Taylor vs. [WBC/WBO champion] Jose Ramirez, so it’s exciting times.”
