Cuadras and Guevara to fight for interim title

Carlos Cuadras and Pedro Guevara, both from Mexico, will compete for the WBC interim super flyweight title on November 17th at the WBC Annual Convention in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Another Mexican warrior, Juan Francisco Estrada, remains as the WBC full champion in the division. For Cuadras (41-5-1), a win positions him for a rematch with Estrada, whom he lost to in 2020. Guevara (40-3-1) barely lost a 108-pound title challenge to Kenshiro Teraji in  2017 and has not lost since.

AUG. 6, 2023: Friday night marked the long awaited return of boxing to the Arena Coliseo in Mexico City. Former 115-pound champion Carlos “Principe” Cuadras knocked out Juan Carlos Mireles in five rounds. The end came in an accumulation of punches that forced Mireles' corner to throw in the towel, with the crowd roaring on the action. “I promised I was going to show you and I did. Now I’m going for the championship. I won’t rest until I have another chance to be a world champion,” vowed Carlos. With this victory, Cuadras improved his record to 41-5-1, with 28 KOs, and opened the way to face Pedro Guevara next.
