Daniel Dubois post-loss reaction

British heavyweight Daniel Dubois on taking a knee and allowing himself to be counted out against Joe Joyce last weekend: "Thank you to everyone who has sent messages of support over the weekend. All my respect to Joe Joyce, he boxed well and won fair and square. I thought I was winning the fight. I tried to fight through the injury but I couldn’t in the end. I’m out of the hospital and will wait now for the fracture to heal. I’ll be back to prove my daughters wrong and my fans right." Dubois suffered a broken orbital bone and nerve damage. Two former champions weighed in on the criticism Dubois is receiving for quitting...

Former WBC heavyweight champion Frank Bruno: "People have made negative comments on Dubois going to one knee to finish the fight. As someone who has problems with my eyes [due to] boxing, I feel Dubois did the right thing to save further damage. You may not agree which I respect, but its my personal point of view."

Former WBO cruiserweight champion Enzo Macarinelli: "My view on Dubois: he’s 23. [If] he was in pain and scared about his health and his eyesight, then absolutely [he] done the right thing and will come back stronger. But if he looked for a way out as things weren’t going his way and found it too hard, [then] it’ll be harder to comeback for him. Only he knows."
