Fabian Maidana KO2 Francisco Mercado... Argentina's Fabian Maidana returned to the ring last weekend in good shape. The welterweight Maidana knocked out Mexico's Francisco Mercado in the second round of their fight last Saturday at the FBA in Buenos Aires. Maidana used the first round to show his superiority. In the second round, he sent Mercado (8-5) to the canvas and although Mercado recovered, he soon visited the canvas again and received the referee’s ten count. Maidana was coming off a loss to Mario Barrios in a  title fight, and at age 32, his record now stands at 23-3. The win was also a measure of revenge for Maidana, who lost a decision to Mercado back in 2021. That fight was in Mexico.
