Devin Haney W12 Yuriorkis Gamboa... At the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Southern Florida, Devin Haney nearly shut out Yuriorkis Gamboa, winning a wide unanimous decision. The judges scored it 120-107 (twice) and 118-109 all in favor of Devin Haney, who dominated the action. According to Compubox, Haney outlanded Gamboa, 133 punches to 84. The fight lacked drama, however, as Haney was unable to stop, or even seriously hurt the 38 year-old former featherweight champion. Haney, coming off shoulder surgery, should not be faulted for the dullness of the fight. Gamboa had a point deducted for excessive holding. With the win, Haney retained his WBC regular lightweight championship, and afterwards, he called out world champion Teofimo Lopez to face him next. "Teofimo Lopez is the main fight I want to make happen."
In comparing Haney's performance to other boxers who defeated Gamboa, Compubox noted that Haney's 133 punches landed were more than the 132 landed by Jason Sosa or the 120 by Tank Davis (who stopped Gamboa in round eleven), but less than Terence Crawford's 146 and Orlando Salido's 140 (although Gamboa beat both Salido and Sosa). source: dazn
