Heather Hardy takes an MMA beating

Taylor Turner TKO1 Heather Hardy (MMA)...  As a boxer, Brooklyn's Heather Hardy is both successful and courageous. She's 22-0 and the WBO featherweight champion. But Hardy's boxing success has not carried over to MMA.  On Friday at Madison Square Garden, Hardy got pummeled by a respectable but sub-500 fighter, Taylor Turner (4-5), who defeated Hardy (2-2 in MMA) via TKO after about four minutes of action in round one. Turner easily took Hardy down and mounted her, giving open season for the pound aspect of ground and pound. The only thing that saved Hardy from a frightful beating was the fact that Taylor has very little punching power. In a beating that can best be described as death by a thousand paper cuts, Turner rained down dozens of unanswered blows while on top of Hardy, who was unable to get Turner off her. Congratulations to Turner, a 36 year-old mother of three. Hardy later tweeted, "I tried the thing guys. I tried." Hardy's boxing promoter, Lou DiBella added, "Tough night for Heather, but I’m proud of her for giving it a go in Bellator MMA. She is a world boxing champion, but was willing to start from scratch and try a new discipline. Now it time to focus on boxing. It’s my job to get her the sixfigure payday she deserves." 2016 Olympian Mikaela Mayer, who fights tonight on a Top Rank show in Las Vegas, looks like a good target for Hardy's big money fight. source: dazn
