Hughie Fury wants February fight after November illness

Most boxers enjoy some downtime over the Christmas period, but that wont be the case for Hughie Fury (23-3, 13 KOs). He has had a difficult few months, following his defeat to Alexander Povetkin in August, and then an illness forcing him out of his scheduled bout with Pavel Sour in Monaco last month. The heavyweight contender is now back in the gym, and ready to put the frustration behind him and fight again as soon as possible. Fury said: “It’s good to finally be back in the gym after being ill in Monte Carlo in fight week. I was absolutely devastated but it’s just one of them things and it wasn’t meant to be. I’m focused on improving things and working on the boxing and strength side of things. I’ll be training all over Christmas doing all different things and sharpening up to hopefully be back out in February next year and get off to a good start. It was unfortunate that I couldn’t show everyone what I was capable of doing and the new things I’ve been working on, but everyone will see a big difference in 2020.”
