IBF orders purse bid between Matias and Ponce for vacant title

On August 23rd, the IBF ordered Jeremias Ponce and Subriel Matias to begin negotiations for the vacant IBF junior welterweight championship that was formerly held by world champion Josh Taylor of Scotland. An agreement bwtween Ponce and Matias has not been reached within the time frame set by the IBF, so the sanctioning body has ordered a purse bid for Tuesday, November 15th. Matias, from Puerto Rico is an extremely hard puncher with a record of 18-1 with 18 KOs. The one loss, to Petros Ananyan, was avenged in Matias' last fight. Ponce, from Argentina, is 30-0 with his best win coming on the road in the hometown of former British champion Lewis Ritson.
