On May 20th, the IBF ordered Mateusz Masternak and Jason Whateley to begin negotiations for an IBF cruiserweight elimination bout. Masternak, from Poland, is 46-5 and has won five straight since a 2019 loss to Yuniel Dorticos. Whateley is 10-0 with some good domestic wins but has never fought outside his native Australia. The IBF reports that an agreement could not be reached between the represetatives of the 200 pounders, so it has ordered a purse bid set for Tuesday, June 28th. The current IBF cruiserweight champion is Latvia's Mairis Briedis.
