IBF orders purse bid for Radovan vs. Mikhailovich middleweight eliminator

The IBF has two purse bids scheduled for next Tuesday, August 22nd. A mandatory contender for newly minted IBF middleweight title holder Vincenzo Gualtieri will be determined by an elimination bout between Denis Radovan and Andrei Mikhailovich. Radovan is 17-0-1 and fights out of Germany. His last win came in March against an opponent with a losing record. Mikhailovich is a Russian based out of New Zealand with a 20-0 record. His last win came in April against previously undefeated Edisson Saltarin. After Gennady Golovkin vacated the IBF title, Gualtieri (21-0-1) became the champion with a win over Esquiva Falcao.

As previously reported by Boxingtalk, the IBF has also called for a new mandatory defense in the cruiserweight division. With challenger Richard Riakporhe apparently relinquishing his spot as the mandatory contedner, champion Jai Opetaia has been directed to face former champion Mairis Breidis (pictured). The Australian Opetaia requested an immediate purse bid, and the IBF complied by scheduling one for August 22nd. Opetaia (22-0) defeated Briedis in July of 2022 to become the champion, but he suffered a serious jaw injury in an exciting fight and has not fought since then. Briedis, a two-time champion from Latvia, also has not fought since then.
