IBF sets purse bid date for Ruiz vs. Hrgovic

On January 11th, the IBF ordered former three-belt champion Andy Ruiz (pictured) and Filip Hrgovic to begin negotiations for a (vacant) IBF interim heavyweight championship (Oleksandr Usyk, who holds the IBF, WBA and WBO titles is negotiating for a unification fight vs. WBC champion Tyson Fury). The IBF reports that an agreement could not be reached and Nisse Sauerland, who promotes Hrgovic, requested an immediate purse bid on February 13th. The IBF has now scheduled a purse bid for Ruiz-Hrgovic for Tuesday, February 28th. Ruiz, however, also has been discussed as an opponent for another former champion, Deontay Wilder in a WBC interim title bout, with both of those men sharing an affiliation with Premier Boxing Champions. Wilder-Ruiz would be a much bigger fight than Ruiz-Hrgovic.
