Indonesia's Hero Tito dies from in-ring brain injury

The Indonesian boxing world is mourning the death of professional boxer Hero Tito a/k/a Heru Purwanto. According to IVO, Tito died after undergoing surgery due to brain swelling that occured in a knockout loss to James Mokoginta for the Indonesioan lightweight championship last week. Tito was knocked out by a right upper cut to his jaw. The 35 year-old boxer fell backwards and the back of his head hit the canvas. Tito tried to get up, but quickly sunk to the canvas. He was a two-time domestic champion who compiled a published record of 29-17-2. Boxingtalk sends its deepest sympathies to the friends and family of Hero Tito.
